Project -  3. Project on Economic and Personal Development of Children

Geographic locations
12 villages in the Balangoda and Weligapola Divisional Secretariats in the Rathnapura district

Kantha Shakthi Children’s Forum
Has a membership of 342 children between the ages of 5-18 years.

Activities
• Children’s Development Bank (CDB)
• The children save money and deposit in the CDB, they can also take loans from it and the bank is operated and run by children
• Children’s Newspaper
• The children print a paper quarterly to voice important issues faced by them, they also contribute to the South Asia Children’s Times which include write-ups from children of 5 South Asian countries.
• Education and training
• The children were given training on accounting, ledger book maintenance, journalism and organic farming among others
• Children’s camps - Camps are organized for their entertainment as well as to learn group activities
